Buying Death!!
heres meh question : if i buy ecto from someone who bought it from a site does
that put me at risk of being acct banned? or buying duped ecto or whatever .. Is it risky to buy ecto ingame? & if there is a risk of that happening is it safe to buy Zkeys ingame? I keep seeing threads about people being banned for "idk what i did wrong". . and its got me wondering. Thx for any input |

When you say "buy," do you mean with in-game gold/plat? If so, here's the question: How would you know where another player got his/her ectos, armbraces, etc.? (unless you're friends in the same guild/alliance) I don't think it's anything to worry about.

If you buy for a legit price, you should be fine. But if you buy things for prices that are far from accurate, flags would go off and it would appear that the original buyer of the gold is trying to spread it across accounts to avoid getting banned and having the items removed.

The only way you get in trouble when trading items is when you do one sided trades (100 ecto for 0 gold/items) between characters with no chat logs.
Such as you and your friend trade ecto between yourselves but never use the in game chat because you are on vent. To Anet, it looks like a RMT transaction because there's absolutely nothing that shows otherwise. Really, if you play the game normally you won't ever run into any problems. And don't listen to people on forums saying "I WAS WRONGFULLY BANNED!" 7 out of 10 of those are lying. The rest get their accounts back shortly thereafter when they calmly speak with support without being a giant flaming jackass when a false positive occurs. |

it's the second part thats important. Basically, the guy lied about making the dll's undetectable to get people to download so he could steal accounts. I would not be suprised if it's like last time a bunch of bots got banned and they all cried innocent. Or accounts getting hacked and having all their stuff removed and it showing up as RMT. Again not saying everyone did. Just saying it may account for some. Ya never know. |

Purchasing or selling ectos, or anything else, for prices in the normal ranges will not result in a ban. You can look in our Ventari's Corner section Sell forum and see all the High End threads being created. These people meet in game and swap an item for a bunch of ectos and gold. They don't get banned.
@End - you can name any site you wish. There is no ban on mentioning other forum sites except in Ventari's. |

I have bought and sold ecto from and to other players fairly regularly for years. I buy it when getting low on room to hold more gold in storage and sell it when getting ... well, too much room to hold gold in storage. I have also used ecto as payment for trades, both as a buyer and as a seller. I have done this as recently as yesterday.
I have never once had the slightest hint of trouble. I don't work for ANet, so I can't say to you there is absolutely no chance this will be a problem. However, as a long time player who's never had a problem I can say the odds of you getting in trouble for receiving ecto in a legitimate trade which was acquired illegitimately in the past seem very low. Also, it makes sense. Players trade in ectos all the time. We have no way to see any kind of past trade history for the ecto in the trade window. It would be incredibly unreasonable for ANet to hold you responsible for what someone else did. /offtopic Darcy, you should ban End now ... not for naming sites or anything ... just an lolban to keep him on his toes, ya know? Question has been answered, and before this degenerates further into a discussion of whether ppl are innocent or not..
